In 2020, the severe epidemic situation and the shortage of masks have become one of the most concerned problems of the public. The most popular material in 2020 is the mask, and the most popular material is non woven fabric polypropylene, which is the raw material of non-woven fabric. The non woven fabric industry in the future will usher in a wave of price rise, no matter for sanitary napkins, diapers and environmental bags. The main reasons are as follows.
The epidemic situation is continuing, and the demand for non-woven fabrics is increasing rapidly. Medical protection products such as masks are still in short supply, and the suppliers of non-woven polypropylene fabric raw materials are all devoted to the production of masks and protective clothing, so as to make full preparations for the winning of the‘war epidemic’. Many non-woven enterprises change the line of production to produce non woven fabric for face mask.
The raw materials of sanitary napkins, diapers and environmental bags are also non-woven fabric. The non-woven production capacity is mainly concentrated in the southeast areas in China. Among them, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hubei, Guangdong and Fujian are the major non-woven production provinces. Most enterprises began to resume work on February 10, but the recovery of production capacity in Hubei Province will be delayed because it is the center of the epidemic. The production capacity of Hubei Province accounts for about one tenth of the total production capacity in China. On the one hand, there is a sudden increase in demand, and on the other hand, the resumption of work in Hubei Province, a major province of non-woven fabric production, has been delayed under the influence of the epidemic situation. The contradiction of insufficient supply of non-woven fabrics has been highlighted.
There are differences among non-woven materials of masks, sanitary napkins and diapers. In terms of raw materials, the mask is composed of three layers of non-woven fabric. The inner layer is ordinary non-woven fabric, the middle filter layer is melt blown non-woven fabric, and the outer layer is non-woven fabric after waterproof treatment. The non-woven materials for sanitary napkins and diapers are composed of surface coating and non-woven PE film. Although the non-woven materials for masks, sanitary napkins and diapers are not consistent, the source materials will have a certain degree of overlap. They are all made of polypropylene.
Before the outbreak of the epidemic, non-woven fabric was mainly for the production of environmental protection bags, diapers and wipes. With the outbreak of the epidemic, driven by huge demand, many mask manufacturers have expanded production, and a large number of laymen were cross-border to produce products. Due to the insufficient supply of non-woven fabrics for masks, many non-woven enterprises that originally produced sanitary napkins and diapers have switched to produce non-woven fabrics for masks. This also caused a serious shortage of non-woven fabrics for sanitary napkins and diapers.
Some time ago, the price of face mask material non woven fabric rose sharply, and the price was quoted on a daily basis. Some manufacturers purchase meltblown non-woven fabrics from 18000 to 160000 or even 240000 per tons, and it is difficult to purchase them in stock. Several mask factories have stopped production due to the exhaustion of inventory.
In the face of such a shortage of non-woven fabrics for masks, due to the transfer of production of many non-woven fabric manufacturers for sanitary napkins and diapers, shortage of labor, rising logistics prices and other factors, the supply is in short supply, which will inevitably lead to the price rise of non-woven fabrics.
At present, the epidemic prevention and control is strict, and some areas are still in the state of blockade. So the logistics transportation is still restricted. Although many logistics enterprises have announced the realization of normal operation, due to the influence of regional epidemic prevention restrictions and traffic control during the epidemic period in some areas, the complete recovery of logistics still needs time, and the existing logistics costs are still high.
The production costs of enterprises have risen sharply, especially the supply of non-woven fabrics is insufficient due to the sharp increase of mask demand. The price of non-woven fabrics will rise sharply, which will inevitably lead to the rise of the overall cost of meltblown nonwoven fabric factory. Therefore, it can be judged that the products with non-woven fabric as raw materials will usher in a rising price trend.
